Alex’s life was deeply rooted in agriculture and adventure before a severe spinal injury changed everything. Born and raised on a ranch, he had a passion for fabrication and the outdoors—skiing, snowboarding, and wakeboarding were among his favorite activities. However, following the accident, which left him with a spinal cord injury from C3 to C5, Alex had to adjust to new realities.

Q&A: Alex’s Journey: From Hobbies to Trackchair® Adventures
Q: How does the Trackchair® fit your needs?
A: The Trackchair® really suits my needs because I require the ability to tip back and do pressure releases, which means I can’t sit in one position for too long. I love speed and adventure, and after seeing the marketing and videos of the Trackchair in various environments, I felt it was a perfect match for me. Its adjustability—like the customizable backrest and armrests—really stood out and convinced me it would be ideal for my needs.
Q: Talk about your hobbies.
A: I’m passionate about fabrication and building custom things to make them my own. I also enjoy playing video games using a controller called a QuadStick, which is similar to a PlayStation controller. It allows me to play games like Farming Simulator to my heart’s content.
Q: If you don’t mind, could you talk to us about your injury?
A: In January 2021, I was in a car accident with a friend. The vehicle rolled over, and I suffered a complete spinal cord injury from C3 to C5. I was on a ventilator for about a month and a half, spent time in various ICUs, and went through rehabilitation in multiple facilities. I finally came home in July 2021 after extensive treatment.
Q: Can you tell us about your Trackchair® and the first time you used one?
A: The first time I used the Trackchair® was when it was delivered. The initial experience was a bit rocky—it leans back a little when you start—but once I got used to its handling, driving it became no problem.

Despite the challenges, Alex’s adventurous spirit persisted. He discovered the Trackchair and was drawn to its adjustability and rugged design, which seemed perfect for his needs. The chair’s versatility allowed him to adapt it to his preferences, including a custom John Deere green and yellow color scheme. Alex’s journey to getting the Trackchair® was supported by his tight-knit community, which organized multiple fundraisers to help with medical costs and other expenses. This support not only facilitated the purchase of the Trackchair® but also a new van to navigate the challenging gravel roads of his rural home.

Since receiving his Trackchair®, Alex has been making the most of it, using it for everything from yard work to family adventures. He’s even envisioned pulling a tiny wagon for his young nephew during trips to the pumpkin patch. He has adapted to its controls and is now exploring additional features and accessories to enhance his experience.
